GA Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Website

Log your training and volunteer hours in MGLOG. Master Gardeners are required annually to complete 25 volunteer hours and 10 continuing education hours. The deadline for reporting all hours is December 31st to be included in the County Annual Summary.

Name Badge replacement order - Current Master Gardener Extension Volunteers can order a replacement volunteer name badge by contacting the Richmond County Extension Office at 706-821-2350 or uge3245@uga.edu. A replacement name badge cost $16.00.

Ask a Master Gardener

Master Gardener Extension volunteers are available upon request for setting up a plant clinic at local retail nurseries, garden centers, farmer's markets, local events, and other locations. Please provide at least 6 weeks advance notice to allow time for scheduling a plant clinic day. Submit your request or general plant questions using any of these methods:

Plant clinics offer an excellent opportunity for the general public to ask questions about gardening and home landscaping. Trained Master Gardener Extension Volunteers can provide soil test bags, free publications, consumer horticulture recommendations, troubleshooting advice, and other references to homeowners.

Upcoming Events

  • Jan 6 - Mar 26 Master Gardener Class presented by Richmond County Extension Registration open October 1 - November 26, 2024 for the 2025 Master Gardener Class. Open to any adult in Richmond County or surrounding counties with an interest in horticulture and a desire to volunteer in the community. Master Gardener students enter the program with a variety of experience levels and skills. Before being accepted into the program, applicants must complete a background check required of all University of Georgia Extension Volunteers. Classes are taught by University of Georgia faculty and other subject area experts. Class topics include botany, plant physiology, soils, flowering plants, vegetable gardening, fruit gardening, herb gardening, organic gardening, entomology, plant pathology and disease control, landscape design, plant propagation, composting and more. The class will meet at the Augusta-Richmond County Library in downtown Augusta, 5:00pm-7:30pm starting Monday, January 6, 2025 and will meet each Monday and Wednesday until the last session on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
