Small Farm Business Planning: Journeyman Farmer Certificate Program Part 1
Saturdays, January 31 & February 7, 2026, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Forsyth County Extension Office. Farming is a business. This 2-day course is designed to help new and beginning farmers develop basic business skills specific to agricultural enterprises. Topics covered include business plans, legal structures, financial resources, and much more. $40 fee includes manual, materials, and lunch for both days.

Vegetable and Small Fruit Production Training: Journeyman Farmer Certificate Program Part 2
Mondays, February 9-March 30, 7-9:30 p.m., Forsyth County Extension Office. Farming is a business. The Journeyman Farmer Certificate Program is designed to help new and beginning farmers achieve profitability and business sustainability. The 8-week Forsyth County Extension course introduces two new sessions: Cut Flower Production and Controlled Environment Agriculture. Other sessions cover soil health and fertility; crop selection, rotation, planning, and seasonality; small farm safety and food safety; and marketing. Visits to local farms will be scheduled for one Saturday during the course. $75 fee includes manual and program materials.?
